You can’t celebrate Aspen without toasting winter, right?  This January event is a special time enjoyed by the locals who want to pay tribute to the Nordic lifestyle.  Taste some soups, enjoy a canine fashion show and don’t miss the fireworks that light up a snow-covered Ajax.

Many (young) tourists flock here for the X-Games.  If you’re into big air, this is a must-see.  But beware — many locals leave town because the bars are overcrowded, you can’t get a table at a restaurant and forget trying to find a parking spot.  Still, the X-Games rule!

Summit For Life (Chris Klug Foundation) 

A local favorites, the Summit For Life is an uphill race on Aspen Mountain that supports organ and tissue donation.  If you can’t make the grueling trek, then consider being a volunteer!

Big Air Fridays (Snowmass) 

If you’re skiing snowmass on Fridays, be sure to catch the Big Air competition (40′ jump!).  It’ll make you want to catch some air ~ promise.  Be sure to stop by Base Village for a little apres.

Halloween

Halloween in Aspen is not to be missed — it seems that adults dress up and enjoy the festivities even moreso than the children do.  The town comes alive with ghosts, goblins and some of the funniest costumes you’ve ever seen.  Be sure to stop by Caribou Club, which is open to the public on this fright night.
