Ute Mountaineer

Ute Mountaineer just moved locations (late 2010) to the Elks building on Galena Street.  This is the place to go if you’re a hard-core sports enthusiast who needs some product expertise.  They’ll hook you up with the right gear for your back country, hiking, camping, rock climbing, mountaineering, telemarking….expeditions.  If they’re not in the store selling, the sales people are most definitely outside using what they sell.

Four Mountain Sports

This is your typical mountain ski shop — you know, the place you go when you lose a glove on the lift while skiing or need some goggles because it’s snowing.  It’s the only rental shop that offers FREE ski and snowboard overnight storage (a huge advantage) and transfer to any of the four mountains.  That alone makes Four Mountain Sports tops in our mind.

Gorsuch Limited

Starting in 1960, Olympians Renie and David Gorsuch fell in love, got married, had a family and started selling clothes out of their station wagon.  Flash forward: they now have five successful stores filled with finest in apparel.  The creme de la creme in town, Gorsuch is your place if you want impeccable style and uncompromising quality.  Pricey, though.
